Senior Associate, Tax

We are seeking an experienced tax practitioner to join our Tax Law Advisory practice as a Senior Associate - advising businesses, investors and individuals on the full range of Tanzanian tax matters, from planning and compliance to disputes with the revenue authorities.

This is a senior role for a lawyer who can lead matters, mentor junior colleagues and act as a trusted adviser to clients. You will work closely with our corporate, financial services and disputes teams to deliver integrated, commercially grounded tax advice, and you will play a real part in growing the practice.

What you'll do

• Advise on corporate, transactional and cross-border tax, including structuring and reorganisations
• Lead tax due diligence and tax aspects of acquisitions, financings and investments
• Advise on VAT, income tax, withholding tax, excise and employment taxes
• Manage tax audits, objections, appeals and disputes with the Tanzania Revenue Authority
• Supervise, review and mentor junior associates and trainees
• Contribute to business development, client relationships and the firm's tax knowledge base

Who we're looking for

• LLB and admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania
• At least five years' focused experience in tax law, ideally at a leading firm or in-house
• Deep working knowledge of Tanzanian tax legislation and TRA practice
• A strong track record in tax advisory and dispute resolution
• Excellent drafting, analytical and client-management skills
• The judgement and presence to lead matters and advise senior stakeholders
