LEGAL ALERT: The Written Laws (Miscellaneous Amendments) (No. 6) Act, 2019 amended the Gaming Act, Cap. 41 to empower the Gaming Board to handle complains arising from gaming activities. The Gaming Board has also been empowered to conduct inspections, seizure, forfeiture of illegal gaming devices. The amendment also requires any person conducting gaming consultancy to obtain valid license issued by the Gaming Board of Tanzania. Through the amendment, the Government has introduced the requirements for deposit of performance bond as prerequisite for licensing/certification of an operator of gaming activities. More importantly, the Gaming board is now empowered to regulate gaming advertisements in particular, regard to the need to protect children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gaming activities.
