LEGAL ALERT: Amendment of the Law to protect Animals. Any abuse or torture of Animals attracts fine up to TZS 1M. The Animal Welfare Act Cap. 154 has been amended to protect Animals from undue torture or sufferings. Section 59 of the Act has been amended to make it an offense punishable by fine of up to TZS 1 Million or jail sentence of up to 1 month for any person who keeps animals dirty, underfeed or deny water or food to an animal or Abandon an animal, whether permanently or not, in circumstances likely to cause unnecessary suffering to the animal or keep or manage an animal in a manner that prevents it from exhibiting normal behavior patterns.
